After the images being leaked, Caterham officially presented the AeroSeven Concept, a collaboration of Caterham Technology & Innovation (CTI), Caterham F1 Team, Caterham Composites and Caterham Cars , which aims to the development of the British company.
Design shows us the future philosophy of Caterham models and it also shows us how the sporty model prepared in collaboration with Renault will look like. It will go on sale in early 2016. TheAeroSeven Concept relies heavily on the methods used by the team of F1. It is the first model of Caterham provided with traction control system which is fully adjustable.
Made on the revamped Seven CSR platform , the prototype has a body of carbon. Equipped with the Ford Duratec atmospheric Euro 6 2,0- liter engine which has evolved further and produces 240 hp @ 8500 rpm with 206 Nm of torque @ 6,300 rpm and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in less than 4 seconds, combined with a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels . The pushrod front suspension is a double wishbone and the rear suspension consists of independent double wishbones . It stands on15 inch wheels with tires 195/45 front and 245/40 rear .
At the interior there are carbon decoratives, the Graphical Display Unit (GDU) and the F1-style steering wheel. Caterham says it will pass in production at autumn of 2014.
