Triumph unveiled the new Triumph Tiger characterized by the nickname “Sport”.The changes create 3 interesting models with displacements of 800, 1050 and 1200cc.The Sport edition has 10 extra horsepower, larger suitcases, stronger subframe, modern ABS, radial calipers at the front and new headlights.
Based on the existing 1050, the Sport edition follows the same recognizable aesthetic, although many plastic parts have changed. There is now an apron, a brand new tail and sides. The previous projector headlamps were criticized vehemently and so were replaced by conventional specular.
Triumph says that not only it weighs less but it also performs better. The engine, remains internally the same, but it gets it’s extra power by changes in import and export, and having more torque at all engine rpm.It now produces 123 hp (+10 from the simple 1050) and 10.4 Nm of torque.
The injection system has improved consumption by +7%.There is a new, stronger subframe, thanks to which the saddle height is reduced by 5 mm (now at 830 mm). It is also closer to the front part, which further improves the ability of the rider to reach the ground with both feet.
Even more, the passenger sea has been lowered nearly 10 mm and now feels less like sitting on top of a rock. The handles are now more convenient to handle. The steering is a little narrower and closer to the rider, and the handling of the instrument panel has been moved to the left grip.
The suspension is fully adjustable, the new Triumph features new springs and different damping settings to cope with the increased capacity of the luggage. The brake discs now act via radial callipers, promising better accuracy.
What will make a difference in the way is the new ABS system to replace the existing. The new wheels wear new Angel GT tyres from Pirelli. The Tiger Sport will come in two colors: red and white. Prices will be announced in February.
