The new Audi R8 will be available with the 2.9-liter V6 Twin-Turbo engine of the new generation of the Porsche Panamera. The engine has been developed by Audi in cooperation with Porsche and it will also be used in the RS4, RS5 and RS Q5.

Essentially, the engine will replace the naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 engine, in order to meet the more stringent emission limits, especially in markets such as China.
The Twin-Turbo V6 engine in the Panamera 4S delivers 440 hp at 5,650 rpm and 550 Nm at 1750-5500 rpm, but in the case of the R8, according to rumorsĀ it will produce more than 500 hp and near to 700 Nm of torque.
Audi has confirmed that the engine will be offered in different versions with different horsepower, depending on the characteristics of the vehicle. For now it remains unknown when the V6 engine will be available forĀ the R8.
