As expected, today, 4th of April, BMW presented the M4 Convertible. The convertible version of the M4, which has an aggressive bodykit design and will make its debut in the report of New York along with the X4 and the Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe, while in Europe it will be presented this summer at this year’s Goodwood.

It has a length of 4.671 mm, width of 1.870 mm, height of 1.386 mm and a wheelbase of 2.812 mm. It has an electric folding roof, which opens and closes within 20 second and it is equipped with the bodykit of the coupe version, as well as the many parts of CFRP. The design features an extremely aggressive grille with black the characteristic ” kidneys”, highlighted bumper air intakes and a new bonnet with a bloating center. It also features 18 inch gray alloy wheels with five double spokes with tires 255/40 front and 275/40 rear (the additional equipment includes 19 inch wheels) the classical aerodynamic mirrors, the golden calipers and quad exhaust tailpipes.

It is equipped with a 3.0 liter in line six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo S55 engine producing 431 hp @ 5500-7300 rpm and 550 Nm of torque between 1850 and 5500 rpm. The 0-100 km/h is completed in 4.4 seconds using the seven-speed dual-clutch M-DCT, and 4.6 seconds with the 6- speed manual gearbox. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

The front MacPherson  suspension, as well as the multi-link at the rear are made of lightweight materials to reduce unsprung weight and increase rigidity. The convertible M4 weighs 1,750 kg, to achieve this, the use of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and aluminum  has been increased in a large part of the frame and parts of the body.

The brakes consist of conventional ventilated discs with four-piston calipers front and two piston at the rear, the additional equipment features carbon ceramic brakes. The M DCT automatic transmission system of the car has a start and a burnout system.

In terms of average fuel consumption, BMW says that the M4 Convertible has an average consumption of 8.7-9.1 l/100 km, emitting 203-213 gr/km of CO2 with the manual and automatic transmission respectively.
