One of the biggest challenges that electric cars are facing, is to increase their range. This can be done with 2-3 ways. With larger batteries, using a range extender engine or with the design and implementation of a wide network of chargers that are publicly accessible. The head of sales and strategy for electric vehicles of BMW, Jacob Harb, said that 2015 “will be the year of infrastructure”.
BMW, plans to make its own network of rapid electric vehicle chargers. The network of the German company will use DC Chargers that are relatively low-cost and small in size, to achieve a charging level of 80% in just 30 minutes.
The exact number of DC Chargers that will constitute the network was not disclosed but the official announcement of the plan will take place in the North American International Auto Show, in Detroit the next month.
