After the first presentation of the model at the Beijing auto show in 2014, BYD revealed the full and final technical characteristics of the Tang hybrid SUV.
The Chinese company says that the Tang took its name from the Tang dynasty known worldwide as the most prosperous of all the great Chinese dynasties. The BYD Tang is equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a 2 liter, turbo gasoline engine that delivers 205 hp with 320 Nm of torque and two electric motors that produce 150 hp and 200 Nm of torque each.
The whole system generates a combined 505 hp and 720 Nm of torque. The car features a 6 speed automatic transmission that allows it to do the 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds while the average consumption does not exceed 2 liters per 100 km.
BYD, also presented two special versions of the Tang. The Tang Limited, which is equipped with red alloy wheels and special interior and it costs $ 48.256 with the production limited to 98 units. The Tang Ultimate Edition on the other hand, has a wide body kit and it is 0.5 seconds faster in the 0-100 from the standard version and it will be produced in 200 units with a value of up to $ 96.530.
