The engine produces 135 hp (99 kW) per liter, with Cadillac saying that it is stronger than the 3.0 liter V6 of the Audi A7 and the 3,0 liter twin-turbo of the BMW 740Li. It offers the performance of a V8 engine, it has a Start / Stop technology and a two cylinder deactivation system, that saves 6% fuel.

Production of the engine will begin this year at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant in Michigan, with Cadillac also preparing a 3.6 liter V6 atmospheric engine.
