Chevrolet presented the Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept at the Los Angeles auto show. The prototype is designed to pay tribute to the innovative racing cars being created for 45 years by Chevrolet and Chaparral Racing.
The Chaparral 2X features a chassis made of composite materials and a highly aerodynamic body. It is equipped with a laser propulsion system inspired by the spacecraft and future aircraft. As explained by Chevrolet, the system uses laser pulses that create shock waves which produce huge boost. The laser system is powered by lithium-ion batteries and a wind generator that helps the car produce 900 horsepower, giving the car the ability to do the 0-96 km/h in 1.5 seconds, with a top speed of 386 km/h.
