Chevrolet has announced that the new Volt will go on sale during the second half of the year in the US at a starting price of $26,495. In the state of California the car will have a discount of $2,000, with its price starting at $24,995.
The Chevrolet Volt is equipped with a four-cylinder 1.5 liter gasoline engine that delivers 101 hp at 5,600 rpm, combined with an electric motor powered by a battery of 18.4 kWh, which is 12% more efficient and weighs 45 kg less than the battery used by the first generation of the Volt. The combined horsepower of the hybrid system reaches 149 hp and 398 Nm of torque.
The electric range of the vehicle reaches 80 km while its total range is 676 kilometers. The average consumption of the car is 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers, while it can make the 0-96 km/h in 8.4 seconds and it has a top speed of 158 km/h.
