Detroit Electric presented the production version of the SP: 01, that does not have any differences from the teasers we had previously seen and the prototype presented in Shanghai in 2013.
The car is based on the Lotus Exige and it is equipped with an electric motor producing 207 kW (281 hp) with 280 Nm of torque, with the 0-100 km/h coming in 3.7 seconds, having a top speed of 250 km/h.
Compared with the prototype, it features a new front air intake and vents on the hood. The interior features a 8.4 inch touch screen, replacing all analog switches, the Detroit Electric SAMI (Smartphone Application Managed Infotainment) infotainment systems, that runs Android operating system and gives access to all functions of the car, such as the audio system, air conditioning, battery status etc.
It will be offered in several exterior colors, with the rear spoiler, the diffuser and the battery cover made of carbon. The company says that the cars are in preproduction phase in their newly built facilities in the city of Leamington Spa, England, where the car is manufactured.
It will go on sale soon in Asia, Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East.
