Rupert Stadler, the boss of Audi revealed in a recent interview that Audi’s electric SUV will not be named Q6, but instead it will be named e-tron.

Stadler said:
It will be comparable with the first Audi Quattro, which was known simply as Quattro. In the long run the e-tron name will stand for a purely electric drive structure. We will, however, have models with common names, for example: A6 e-tron, A7 e-tron, A8 e-tron and so on.
Audi had presented at the Frankfurt auto show in 2015, the e-tron quattro concept, which showed us how Audi’s electric SUV will look like. The construction of the car will take place in Belgium and it will be released in 2018.
The car will be based on the second generation of the MLB Evo platform of the VW Group and it will borrow technology from the R8 e-tron, having three electric motors, one on the front axle and two at the rear, powered by a lithium-ion battery, which will be located beneath the passenger cabin, between the two axles.
Its total power is expected to be close to 450 hp with 800 Nm of torque, with the lithium-ion battery having a capacity of 95 kWh and offering an autonomy close to 500 km.
