BMW released today several technical details of the new 7-Series. The car is build on a platform, that uses CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer), aluminum and high-strength steel, with the total weight of the car being up to 130 kg less on average, compared to the previous generation.

It will be available in two versions, one with a normal wheelbase and a with a long wheelbase, which will be 13 centimeters longer. It will features a gesture control system, which through a 3D sensor mounted on the roof of the car, near to the interior mirror, will be able to recognize the movements of the driver’s hand, to adjust the volume of the audio system and to answer the phone.
The 760i and 760 Li will be equipped with a 6,6 liter V12 engine derived from the Rolls-Royce Ghost producing close to 600 hp.
The 730d version will deliver 272 hp, while the 730e, plug-in hybrid version, will produce 275 hp, with the 740e and 740 Le producing 400 hp. All hybrid versions will be combined with a 9speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system, with the 730e having an electric range of about 60 km and the 740e and 740 Le having an electric range of 100 km.
