Geneva 2014: Maserati Alfieri Concept

Maserati celebrated its birthday 100th and presented at the Geneva Motor Show the Alfieri Concept, a 100 % functional and gorgeous 2+2 prototype car, the design of the car was supervised by the Chief Designer of Maserati, Lorenzo Ramaciotti.

The prototype is very close to get a green light for production, as the new entry-level sport car  of Maserati. Its design is inspired by the Maserati A6 GCS-53 of 1954, the 3500 GT of 1957 and the 5000 GT of 1957. The car stands on 20 inch rims at the front and 21 inch rims at the rear.

The interior features leather alanine upholstery, with a two-tone dashboard that has a TFT screen and the digital dashboard that has four round instruments.

It is based on the GranTurismo MC Stradale, having a 24 cm shorter wheelbase. It measures 4.590 mm long, 1.930 mm wide, 1.280 mm high and it has a wheelbase of 2.700 mm. It is equipped with a 4.7 liter V8 emgine producing 460 hp @ 7,000 rpm with 520 Nm of torque @ 4,750 rpm, combined with a 6 speed gearbox which sends the power to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential. The car brakes with carbon ceramic brakes with Brembo calipers.

The production version of the prototype, which will be named GranSport, is expected to be released in 2016. It will be the “rival” of the Jaguar F-Type and the Porsche 911 and it will be built on the short version of the platform used for the Ghibli and the Quattroporte, it is expected to cost around 80,000 euros.
