When McLaren unveiled the 650S in the Geneva, they said that the car would not replace the 12C, but as evidenced today, they had lied. McLaren, which had suspended the production of the 12C to prevent not being able to cover the demand of the 650S, made known today that they decided to stop production of the 12C, due to the success of the 650S.
McLaren to show respect to the current holders of 12C, announced it will offer for free the Technology Upgrade program, which is included on the 650S, in which there is both the program Active Aero, which turns the rear spoiler in an air brake, as well as the Drag Reduction System. Also the Technology Upgrade program features an upgraded IRIS infotainment system, the possibility of a rear view camera and DAB radios (for Europe) or Sirius (for America).
The package will be given to nearly 3,500 owners of the 12C and the 12C Spider, and owners of used 12C purchased through the Qualified McLaren program.
