Chevrolet at CES, presented briefly the new Volt. The plug-in hybrid has a thinner grille, LED daytime running lights, a sloping roofline and a sharply raked windshield. It also has a new slimmer lights, smaller fog lights and new aggressive mask.
The car will be officially unveiled in Detroit next week with the Chevrolet saying that the car will be equipped with a brand new Voltec set, which consists of the battery, the transmission, the engine that increases the autonomy and the related electronic systems. The new battery is developed in collaboration with LG Chem, and the cells have new chemicals that increase the energy storage by 20%, when compared with today’s battery capacity. Also, the battery is 13 kilos lighter and it is positioned lower in the vehicle, to improve the center of gravity of the Volt.
The car is manufactured in Michigan, with its design being an evolution of the design of the present generation having a more curved body, and 70% of its parts to come from the US or Canada. The interior features a digital dashboard, metallic decorations, new center console and larger infotainment system screen.
