Nissan has presented long ago the GT-R LM Nismo, their LMP1 racing car, which has forward wheel drive and it has the engine on the front. The company has created a video to explain why the car has forward wheel drive.
Nissan explains that they installed the engine on the front to create a long hood, which gives the car the ability to maximize the vertical downforce produced. They also said that although front-wheel drive has disadvantages, such as understeer, they can overcome it through innovative aerodynamics and traction control systems.
