In 1999 Bugatti presented at the Geneva auto show a concept four-door sedan, called EB 218, that was the evolution of the EB 112 that made its debut in 1993.

It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign and it drew inspiration from the classic Bugatti Type 101 Berline Tourisme, with the its interior featuring beige leather and wooden decorations.

It had a length of 5,385 mm, a width of 1,986 mm and a height of 1,455 mm. Mechanically it was equipped with the W18 engine of the EB 118 that was presented in 1998. The engine produced 555 hp with 650 Nm of torque and it was combined with a 5-speed automatic gearbox, with the power being transferred to all four wheels through a permanent four-wheel drive system, derived from the Lamborghini Diablo VT. The weight of the car was 2.2 tonnes and it was able to do the 0-100 km/h in just 5 seconds, with its top speed being 250 km/h.
