About three decades ago, Peugeot had released an ad for the 205 GTi, in which the car fell out of a plane with a parachute, and now for the launch of the new 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Special Edition, they modified that ad and made it so that the plane from where the 205 GTi falls, chases the 208 Gti 30th Anniversary.
As you’ll see in the video, the footage is completely unrealistic, as the Lockheed C-130 Hercules could never have a rocket launcher, nor the French car could make such maneuvers. While even there is an action shot when an Apache helicopter chases the 208 GTi, which manages to avoid it.
The anniversary model of the 208 GTi is the most powerful 208 GTi that has ever been built by Peugeot, with the 1.6 liter THP four-cylinder engine delivering 208 hp and 300 Nm of torque, 8 hp and 25 Nm of torque more than the standard version.
The engine is combined to a manual six-speed gearbox, which transfers the power to the front wheels via a Torsen limited-slip differential. The suspension and steering have been upgraded, with the anniversary 208 GTi standing on 18 inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 205/40.
It is able to do the 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. It has been lowered by 10 mm, and its width has been increased by 22 mm on the front and 16 mm on the back. It brakes with 323 mm discs while, the interior features Alcantara upholstery. It will start being sold in November.
