Polestar presented a custom Volvo XC90 and the an optimization package for its D5 turbodiesel and T6 Drive-E gasoline engine.
According to Polestar and Volvo, the improvements made to the software of the ECU of the two engines, result in significant benefits to engine speeds, better throttle response and reducing the time it takes for the automatic transmission to shift gears.
Polestar announced that the horsepower of the D5 diesel engine increases from 225 hp to 233 and the torque from 470 Nm to 500, while the T6 engine now produces 334 hp and 440 Nm of torque. The Polestar Performance Optimization package, costs $1.285 and it can be installed in the car in about half an hour.
Polestar said that similar improvement packages will be offered for the D4 and T5 engines that are equipped in smaller models of Volvo.
