This year’s Rally Dakar starts today in Buenos Aires Argentina. This year’s race will end on January 17, after more than 9,000 km of special and simple paths. More than half kilometers are special routes while the other are road sections.
This year’s route takes competitors through Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. As you can see on the map below, both the start and finish, will be in the city of Buenos Aires in Argentina.
2015 is the fourth year that the system of “marathon routes” will be applied. In these routes, the competitors will not be able to call for help by their groups and they will be isolated for days. Interestingly is also the fact that the paths that will be followed by the separate categories (motorcycles, quads automobiles and trucks) will be different while also different will be the days of rest for each vehicle category.
The race will involve 168 motorcycle riders, 49 quads riders, 143 drivers and co-drivers and 67 truck crews. It is worth noting that Peugeot will return in the race with the 2008 DKR and Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres behind the wheel.
