Renault in mid-August announced the termination of the production of the Megane III RS and now they are focused on the development of the RS version of the current model.
According to rumors the car will be releases in mid-2018 and it will be equipped with a wheel steer system as the Megane GT, in order to ensure mobility in low speeds but also stability at higher speeds, with its power to exceed 300 hp.
It will have a new 2.0-liter turbo engine that will be combined to a 6-speed manual transmission with a rev-matching technology, that was presented by Nissan on the 370Z.
The wheel steer system will be offered at the optional equipment, unlike the GT version in which it is fitted as standard. Renault’s engineers believe that the advantages of this system will compensate for the additional weight, that the car will have.
The weight is a major concern for the Renault Sport Megane IV, as it is not only larger than its predecessor, but it will be offered exclusively in a 5-door version, which significantly increases its weight.
The boss of Renaultsport, Patrice Ratti, in a recent interview said that despite the fact that the engine of the Megane RS is good for power outputs of over 300 hp, there are no plans for further development of the car.
