BMW is continuing the tests of the new X3, so that the model can be ready to be officially presented by the German company sometime in 2017.
The model is codenamed G01 and it will be based on the new CLAR platform, offering more space for passengers and also having a lower weight by 100 kilos.
It will be offered with a range of four-cylinder and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid set. Among them, there will be a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine in the X3 M40i version which will produce 347 hp, while the X3 M will be equipped with the engine of the M3/M4 and it will deliver close to 500 hp.
The hybrid version will combine a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 245 hp and a 69 kW (95 hp) electric motor, with the total power being 330 hp with 700 Nm of torque, having an average fuel consumption of just 3.8 liters/100 km and an electric range of 50 km.
