The official presentation of the Smart ForTwo is approaching (July 16), with a teaser video that was uploaded on Youtube outlining how the upcoming models (ForTwo and ForFour) will be renewed significantly without losing the “smart” DNA.
Bear in mind that the Smart ForTwo will share 70% of its mechanical parts with the Renault Twingo, keeping both the engine the rear wheel drive sytem. The length will remain the same as that of the current generation (2,692 mm) while it will have 1.25 meters smaller turning circle (just 7.5 meters) giving it extreme flexibility. The cabin will be larger and will be equipped with colorful decorations and a large touchscreen.
It will be offered as a coupe or a convertible with a fabric roof. It will be available with a three-cylinder, 0.9 liter TCe engine producing 90 hp and 135 Nm of torque, a 1 liter AP SCe with 70 hp and 91 Nm torque and a three-cylinder diesel engine. Finally, the Brabus version will produce 100 hp. As for transmissions, rumors say that it will have a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, dual-clutch design and there will be a purely electric version with an 87 hp electric motor.
