Audi is testing the A7 piloted driving concept at the A9 section of the German Autobahn, with the German Transport Minister to be at the driver’s seat and enjoy an autonomous ride.

Audi wants the next generation of the A8 to have an autonomous system that allows the car to move with speeds of up to 65 km/h.

The Audi A7 Sportback piloted driving concept features the same system as the one of the autonomous Audi RS7 that caught 240 km/h in Hockenheimring and it can move autonomously at speeds of up to 110 km/h, with the computing unit of the autonomous system, occupying almost the entire space of trunk.

In case something goes wrong, the system alerts the driver to take control of the car and if he does not take control of the car, then the system stops the car by itself.
