Toyota Australia, announced its plans for the new, Toyota 86 Pro-Am championship that will start next year. This championship will consist of five professional drivers who will “guide and race against a large number of amateurs who will qualify in the starting grid”. Interesting concept. The races of this tournament will take place in selected events of the V8 Supercars championship.

The company did not disclose details any details about the race car, which is equipped with the same two-liter, four-cylinder engine as the “simple” GT86. Though with certain differences, such as a sport exhaust, oil cooler and a reprogrammed ECU that provides a non-specified “increase in performance.” The car will also have adjustable coilover suspension, high performance brakes and a roll-cage.
Toyota has not released information on its performance, however they confirmed that the car used in the development of racing, completed a tour of Mt Panorama in 2: 42.6, with the record of the track being 2:03.3 with an Audi R8 LMS Ultra.
