Volkswagen presented the first pictures and details of the renewed Scirocco and Scirocco R, which will make their official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.
The changes are identified purely on the aesthetic side, the new VW Scirocco has a slightly different front bumper, new bi-xenon light fixtures with LED daytime running lights, new grille, new rear bumper, new tailgate and new LED lights. It is available in five new exterior colors (Pyramid Gold, Urano Grey, Flash Red, Pure White and Ultra Violet) and new wheels.
At the interior it features a spoke leather steering wheel, new vents and new instruments (similar design to that of the Golf GTI). At the center of the dashboard it has three instruments (oil temperature, timer and turbo pressure). It also features a new Dynaudio Excite sound system, storage space next to the hand brake handle and ParkAssist.
Mechanically there are now TSI and TDI engines, with the top TSI being equipped on the Scirocco R producing 280 hp. All engines are combined to a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed manual or a
7 speed automatic DSG gearbox and they come standard with a Start/Stop system and energy recovery system during braking.
The basic engine in the range will be the 1.4 TSI producing 125 hp (+3 hp), having an average fuel consumption of 5.4 litres/100 km and 125 g/km emissions of CO2, followed by the 2.0 TSI in three versions, first version will be producing 180 hp (+20 hp), having an average fuel consumption 6 litres/100 km and 139 g/km emissions of CO2), second version will be producing 220 hp (+10 hp), having an average fuel consumption 6 litres/100 km and 139 g/km emissions of CO2 and the third version producing 280 (+15 hp), having an average fuel consumption of 8.0 litres/100 km and 187 g/km emissions of CO2 at the Scirocco R version. In terms of diesel engines there will be a 2.0 TDI producing 150 horsepower (+10 hp), having an average fuel consumption of 4.1 litres/100 km and 107 g/km emissions of CO2 and 184 hp (+7 hp), having an average fuel consumption of 4.3 litres/100 km and 111 g/km emissions of CO2.
The power will be transferred in all versions solely at the front axle, with sales of the revamped Scirocco starting from August.
