Volvo is preparing the S90, the car that will replace the S80, with the company having big goals for the car. Volvo wants the S90, which will be presented at the end of the year, to be the competitor of the Audi A6, Jaguar XF, Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series.
A representative of Volvo said that the S90 will have a more distinctive design, compared to that of the XC90 and it will be provided with all the elements that will make it popular in the markets of USA and China, two markets where the big sedans are very popular.
To S90 will be built on a modular platform called SPA (Scalable Product Architecture), the same one used for the new XC90. The car will also be offered in a station wagon version, which will be named V90 and will be released in 2016.
Volvo also preparing a larger model, which will probably be called S100 and it will be the competitor of the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and Mercedes S-Class.
