Faithful to the design requirements of Concept Coupes, the new CLA was characterized by Mercedes-Benz as a “revolutionary style” combining elements of the CLS with elements of smaller mercedes cars in a blend that shows elegance with dimensions limited to 4.63 m long 1.777 m wide and 1.437 m heightgh.
Beyond the sport look, the design of the car’s surfaces ensures that the CLA is aerodynamic efficient.
The CLA features elements such as orientation corresponding suspension, the optional 4Matic all-wheel drive and turbo engines with power ranging between 122 hp and 211 hp.
Specifically, in terms of the suspension, the CLA has MacPherson struts at the front axle and multi-link independent suspension at the rear, while it is noted that there will be two options for the settings of the chassis and suspension, the “comfort” and the “sport”.
The dynamic profile of the new four-door coupe complements the optional new generation system of permanent four-wheel drive 4Matic. The new version has an upgraded 4Matic system management and distribution of torque in collaboration with dual-clutch automatic transmission 7G-DCT which ensures instant and complete redistribution from the front to the rear and vice versa, depending on conditions, as well as being 25 % lighter than comparable four wheel drive systems.
Besides the features that constitute it’s sport identity,the safety equipment of the new CLA includes an upgraded version of the Collision Prevention Assist system which with the assistance of radar warns the driver of potential accidents and prepares the braking system, thus helping to prevent accidents while reducing operating speeds from 30 to 7 km. / hr.
As regards the other equipment that CLA has the optional panoramic sunroof while it’s interior is influenced by the A-Class with the 5.8-inch screen Comand system.
In terms of engines, the CLA will include 1.6 petrol and 2.0 liter engines with power of 122 hp (CLA 180), 156 hp (CLA 200) and 211 hp (CLA 250).The range of diesel versions will include CLA 200 CDI engine with 1.8 liter, 136 bhp and 300 Nm torque and CLA 220 CDI with 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque which emits to the atmosphere 109 gr./km. of carbon dioxide.
In September 2013 the AMG version of the CLA will be released, whose power is rumored to be at 335 hp.
All versions have a start / stop system and are combined with a manual six-speed gearbox or optionally, with double clutch 7G-DCT.
