Mercedes-Benz after the interior of the AMG GT, officially announced the engine of her new sports car. So under the hood of the AMG GT there will be a V8 4,0 liter twin-turbo engine that produces 510 hp @ 6,250 rpm with 650 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 4,750 rpm.
The engine is codenamed M178, weighs 209 kilos, has lightweight pistons and cylinders of zirconium alloy which allows it to have optimum thermal conductivity. The cylinder walls are coated
with a nano-slide coating that reduces friction losses, with the engineers of Mercedes-Benz to use dry sump lubrication technology.
The same engine will be located also on the new C63 AMG, the AMG GT will be presented in autumn and sales will start from March of 2015.
