2017 Volkswagen Golf Facelift

Volkswagen unveiled the Golf facelift. The best-seller model of the company has acquired new LED lights that replace the bi-xenon lights, slightly different bumpers, a new grille and wheels with a new design. The rear of the car has LED lights and new exhaust tailpipes, with the model to be offered in three-door and five-door versions, that can be painted in new colors.

The interior features a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, borrowed from the Passat and a head-up display, included on the optional equipment. The centre console comes almost intact from the Golf R Touch concept and it features a touchscreen of 9.2-inches for the infotainment system. The new Discover Pro monitor accepts sound commands and gestures, making the Golf, the first model in the compact car class to be equipped with support for gestures.

The car is available with a new 1.5-liter TSI engine producing 150 hp with 250 Nm of torque, that features a cylinder deactivation technology, that helps it to have an average fuel consumption on the NEDC test cycle of 4.9 liters/100 km, with its emissions of CO2 being 110 g/km.

The BlueMotion version produces 130 hp with 200 Nm of torque and it has an average fuel consumption of 4.6 liters/100 km and it emits 104 g/km of CO2. This version features a system that shuts off the engine when the driver takes his foot off the gas pedal, thus providing fuel savings of approximately 0.4 liter/100 km. The e-Golf will have an autonomy 300 km, with the Golf GTi to be equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI engine with 230 hp and the GTI performance version, to produce 245 hp

Volkswagen has even developed a brand new seven speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission that replaces the six-speed DSG. The official debut of the revamped Golf will take place next week at the Los Angeles auto show.
