Both Audi and Porsche are owned by the VW Group, with both companies developing new electric sedan models, which will not share the same platform, as they want to give completely different character to the two vehicles.

This was revealed by Michael Steiner, head of the research and development department of Porsche, who in a recent interview, confirmed the fact that VW gave the green light to Audi and Porsche to develop their own platforms in completely separated research projects.

Audi is working on a platform that will accommodate three electric motors, two of which will be mounted on the rear axle and one in the front. The motors will be powered from a 95 kWh battery that is mounted on the floor and they will produce over 500 hp.

Porsche on the other hand is preparing the production version of the Mission E, that will be equipped with two electric motors, with the battery to be installed on the floor, The engines of teh Mission E will produce more power than those of Audi.

As Steiner said, the Porsche Mission E will be the sporty expression of an electric car with Audi to target a wider audience, not seeking performance, but comfort.
