Porsche is preparing for the official presentation of the third generation of the Cayenne, which will be on 29 August and today the company released the first sketch of the car. The design of Porsche’s new SUV seems to have evolved and it borrows elements from the new Panamera and the Macan.
The debut of the new Cayenne will be made at the Frankfurt auto show next month. The interior of the new SUV is expected to be similar to that of the second generation of the Panamera, with fewer buttons, a digital instrument panel and a large screen for the infotainment system.
The German company says that all the prototypes of new generation have covered 4.4 million kilometers, from 2014, when they began the development of the model, all over the world. The new Cayenne will be based on the same platform as that of the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, VW Touareg and Lamborghini Urus.
It will make use of aluminum and high-strength steel, with its weight to be reduced by as much as 200 kilos. Mechanically it is expected to be available with a range of six and eight-cylinder petrol engines and among them there will be a 4.0-liter V8 and a plug-in hybrid 3.0-liter V6, while the car will also be available with a diesel engine.
