At the Chicago auto show Kia officially unveiled the Soul EV, the electric version of the Soul, which is distinguished by its larger grille, where there is a slot for charging the batteries, its LED lights and its new bumpers.
It is available in three color combinations ( white – blue , blue – white and silver – white) and it stands on 16 inch wheels, which wear Super Low Rolling Resistance tires(SLRR).
It has 541 liters of luggage space and it is equipped with a lithium-ion battery of 27 kWh and an electric motor producing 109 hp and 284 Nm of torque. The car has a range of 130-160 kilometers, when the battery runs out, it takes five hours to charge by household 240 Volt socket, 24 hours via household 120 Volt socket, but when using a 50 kW quick charger the battery recharges by 80 % within 33 minutes.
The Kia Soul EV 2015 can do the 0-96 km/h does in less than 12 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 145 km/h .Sales will begin in the third quarter of the year at the states of California , New York, Maryland , New Jersey and Oregon.
