In the Paris motor show, Kia will present to the European public the new Sorento which debuted last month in South Korea. The Korean crossover is characterized by an evolutionary design, which makes it look more dynamic, curved, muscular and more luxurious than its predecessor, adopting the latest design language of Kia. It features thin light fixtures, LED daytime running lights, roof rails, slightly sloping roof line, large alloy wheels, chrome decorations, spoiler and twin tailpipes. The body consists of 52.7% ultra-high strength steel, two times more, compared with the figure of the previous generation.
The length reaches 4.780 mm, height 1.685 mm, while the wheelbase has grown by 80 mm, reaching 2.780 mm. The interior has “many innovative features” the dashboard is lined with soft materials and a “series of advanced on-board technologies.” The interior is a result of the design team the KIA, which is based in Frankfurt.
The simple layout of the dashboard is combined with a three-spoke steering wheel and a wide leather center armrest, while the rear seat passengers benefit from centrally mounted vents. There is also a fairly large size touch screen infotainment system that controls various parameters. The audio system is from JBL and the panoramic roof is made of CFRP. The luggage space is 515 liters in the five seat version and in the version with seven seats 605 liters.
It will be available with a 2.0 liter turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 186 hp with 402 Nm of torque, the 2.2 liter CRDI turbodiesel producing 202 hp with 441 Nm of torque, a 2.4 liter petrol engine, a 3.3 liter GDI V6 engine and a 2.3 liter hybrid that works with an electric motor which is powered by a lithium-ion battery of 47 kWh.
