The CEO of Peugeot, Maxime Picat, in recent statements has confirmed that the company will pull to the market the 208 R, which will be placed above the 208 GTI.
The car will go on sale sometime after 2015 and it will weigh significantly less than the GTi. The engine will be the THP 1.6 liter of the RCZ R and the 308 R concept, which however will yield less than the 270 horses that the RCZ R produces.
Picat added that the plans of Peugeot is to move up a category offering premium versions of all its models , thereby separating models from the C series of Citroen.
