Jeep is recalling in US 55,687 Cherokee manufactured between February 18 and September 10, 2015, equipped with the optional electric opening tailgate.
The problem lies in insulation of the control unit of the tailgate, in which water may possibly enter and cause a short-circuit and probably also a fire. The company says that they will inspect the recalled vehicles and they will install an improved insulation, which will offer better protection.
