Ferrari presented at Frankfurt the long-awaited 458 Speciale. Designed for drivers who are looking for a ” focused sports car that offers extreme driving experience”, the 458 Speciale following in the footsteps of the Challenge Stradale and the 430 Scuderia and while it may not be so” heavy “or fanciful name , it is still lighter and more powerful to drive than the 458 Italia.
The 4,5 liter V8 is tuned to deliver 605 horses at 9,000 rpm and 540Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm combined with an equally improved dual clutch automatic transmission. These allow the weight to be reduced by 100 kilos in comparison to the 458 Italia. The 0-100km/h is completed in 3 seconds and it can complets one round at Fiorano in just 1 minute and 23.5 seconds . To have a point of reference, this time is just half a second slower than the time achieved by the F12 Berlinetta but 1.5 seconds faster than the 458 Italia.
Regarding handling , the car is equipped with an exclusive Speciale Side Slip Angle Control system , which uses a complex algorithm to calculate the slip angle . The system then compares the angle with reference data and optimizes the torque output via the F1-Trac traction control and allocates it through the E-Diff electronic differential .
The 458 Speciale also features an aerodynamic bodykit that has the best balance between aerodynamically generated downforce and drag, Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
