Opel presented the Cascada at Geneva. The open version of the Astra, is already being manufactured in Germany and it’s price will starts at €26,000. The car can carry 4 passengers and features an electronic soft fabric roof . The name comes from the Spanish word “Cascada” meaning waterfall and its roof opens and closes at the touch of a button at speeds up to 50 km/h in 17 seconds.

Its is 4.697 meters in length, 1.840 meters wide, it has the same chassis as the Astra GTC and it is equipped with HiPerStrut suspension  and the FlexRide system. The torsional and flexural stiffness are improved in relation to the previous generation of open Opel Astra, the Cascada is 43% stiffer in torsion and 10% in bending. It features wheels from 17 to 20 inches and brakes of dimensions up to
326 mm at the front and 325 mm at the rear.

The chassis has been strengthened, with the front pillars being constructed from higher strength steel. It is equipped with a the 1.4 liter Turbo engine with 140 hp and with a 1.6 liter SIDI Turbo engine with 170 hp. In terms of diesel engines it will be using the 2.0 CDTI ecoFLEX with 165 hp. With six-speed manual transmission and Start/Stop system, consuming just 5,2 lit./100 km with CO2 emissions of  138 g/km. Like the 1.6 SIDI Turbo, the 2.0-liter Turbo diesel can be combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. In the future there will be added a version with  the 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI ecoFLEX with 195 hp, maximum torque of 400 Nm, and a six-speed manual gearbox with a Start/Stop system.

The interior features  Nappa leather, ergonomic seats with a luggage space of 350 liters and 280 liters with the roof open. The space is increased, since the rear seats can be folded. The Cascada also features Smart actively luminaires AFL + (Adaptive Forward Lighting), Opel Eye system that reads road signs, lane change warning system, parking assistant Park Asstist, Hill Assist and heated front seats.
