Mitsubishi decided to rename its new small car due to unexpected issues that arose with the rights of registered trademarks, such as that of “Mirage”.Therefore, the new “small” model of Mitsubishi Motors will be called “Space Star” for European markets including Russia and Ukraine.Some of the impressive specifications of the car of 3,71 meters are the weight which is at 845 kg, the 4 l/100 km consumption, CO2 emissions of 92 grams/kilometer and luggage space of 235 l (5-seater configuration).
The Space star wiil be built at the new MMC’s factory at “Laem Chabang Industrial Estate” in Chonburi province of Thailand. This is the third production unit of MMC in this highly strategic country, that serves all global markets with an expected annual production of approximately 120,000 cars.
After Thailand and Japan, the Space Star will be available in Europe (with launches by the end of February 2013 as the “New Space Star”), and after Europe it will be available in Australia and other global markets.
The engine of the “New Space Star” will be a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder MIVEC engine, with Auto Stop & Go system box and a 5 speed gearbox.
