Volkswagen has released the first official images of the seventh-generation Golf GTI, which will be available in two versions, the GTI and the diesel GTD, will premiere in Geneva and will go on sale in Germany from € 28,350. In the rest of Europe it is expected to be available by next May.
The special feature of the new Golf GTI is that for the first time in history there will be an improved version directly from the factory. It will be called “Performance” and it will be equipped with a 2,0 liter four cylinder turbo engine with 230 hp instead of the 220 hp “simple” GTI.
However, with either 220 or 230 hp, the new top Golf will be fast, 0-100 in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 245 km/h for the 220 hp GTI and 0-100 in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h for the Performance edition. In combination with the manual 6 speed gearbox (a dual-clutch automatic DSG will be optionally available) the CO2 emissions will be 139 g./Km.
The GTI stands at the exterior from the simple version of the VW Golf VII, thanks to the distinctive red mask, the new bumpers, the aerodynamic body kit, the 17 inch wheels and the red brake calipers. The interior remains with the traditional plaid lining at the sports seats a racing steering wheel and a racing gear selector.
