Volkswagen will officially present at Geneva the GTD version of the seventh-generation of the VW Golf. 31 years have passed since the first Golf GTD and the “ingredients” are the same for the new “hot” diesel version of the German car.
Under the hood, there is a 4 cylinder 2.0 liter turbo TDI engine with common rail technology. The engine produces 184 hp and 380 Nm of maximum torque from just 1,750 rpm. In its basic version, the engine will be combined with a 6 speed manual gearbox, while an automatic dual-clutch DSG 6 speed gearbox will be optional. The Golf GTD has an optimal performance and consumption for a diesel category car.
Acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h is completed in 7.5 seconds, with a top speed of 229 km/h. At the same time, VW announces an average consumption of 4.2 lt/100 Km and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km (4.7 lt/100 Km and 122 g/km. with the DSG).
The dual exhaust tailpipe, diffuser, the spoiler and big 17 inch alloy wheels with tires 225/45, provide the sport image of the car, while maintaining the sport image at the interior. The Golf GTD will be available after the Geneva exhibition, with prices to start from 29,350 € for the German market.
