Jeep has officially presented the Jeep Cherokee, the car that will replace the Liberty, which has received much criticism for its design, which is derived from Alfa Romeo. Manufactured on the Compact US Wide (CUSW) platform of Chrysler, the same one as the the Dodge Dart and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, it is the first Jeep model that will be equipped with a brand new V6 3,2 liter engine, which is based on the Pentastar V6 3,6 liter. The engine produces 267 horsepower and 316 Nm of torque.
It is also available with the Tiger Shark 2.4 liter petrol engine with 184 hp and 232 Nm of torque. It weighs 181 kg less than the Liberty and it features independent front and rear suspension and it will be available with a 9 speed automatic transmission. It is available with three four wheel drive systems Active Drive I, Active Drive II and Active Drive Lock.
At the interior, the rear seats fold down in proportion 60/40, there is a LED 3,5 inch black and white monitorand at the center of the dashboard it features a 5 inch touch screen. In terms of safety the 2014 Cherokee has several systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, ParkSense, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, Lane Departure Warning-Plus and many others.
It is available in 4 trim levels and it will be manufactured at the Chrysler factory in Toledo, Ohio, where 250.000 Cherokees will be manufactured annually.
