Toyota officially presented at New York the new Highlander, which will go on sale early next year.
The brand new crossover features a big trapezoidal chrome grille and ambiguous and subtle aesthetic headlights. The body of the car has bigger fenders with black protective plastic around the wheel arches and bright taillamps. The model is also equipped with a spoiler and alloy wheels of 18 or 19 inches.
The inside of the Highlander borrows several elements from the new RAV4 and comes equipped with a dashboard with soft coat, fake wood trim and satin tones. In the central console, a multifunction display and an infotainment system of Entune are found. Leather seats, an entertainment system for the rear seats and an JBL audio system are included on the extra equipment.
It is equipped with a 2.7 liter four cylinder engine with 178 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque, a 3,5 liter V6 engine with 268 horsepower and336 Nm of torque, and a hybrid 3.5 liter engine with 158 horsepower, which is combined with an electric motor of 105 kW (143 hp). The entry level Toyota Highlander is available only with front-wheel drive, while the V6 is available with fourwheel drive. In contrast, the hybrid version is only four wheel drive.
