After successive teasers and leaks the Jaguar F-Type Coupe was officially presented at the Los Angeles autoshow. The closed version of the beautiful open F-Type retains the elegant silhouette of the model and is essentially the production version of the C-X16 Concept.
The biggest change compared with the F-Type Coupe will be the horsepower of more expensive version. Unlike the open there will be no V8 S version , but the strongest version will be called F-Type R Coupe, being the latest addition to the models of R Performance of Jaguar. It will be equipped with the same engine as the XFR-S and XKR-S, which is none other than the supercharged V8 5,0- liter engine producing 550 hp with 502 Nm of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just four seconds , with a top speed electronically limited to 300 km/h .
The changes are ongoing, the car wears a more dynamic and customized fully adjustable suspension for better control of the movement of the car , being 4.3 % stiffer at the front and 3.7% at the back, compared with the F-Type V8S Convertible. The driver by selecting the Dynamic Mode, which reads the vehicle 500 times per second , can make the suspension even harder with the steering becoming more accurate, the changes of the eight-speed automatic SportShift transmission are also faster and the throttle response is more immediate.
The electronic differential is also new as the system torque vectoring, which improves the driveability of the car , sending the necessary in every circumstance , power to the wheels . Finally , the brakes are larger , and the front axle is wearing 15 inch discs and 14.8 -inch at the rear . Optionally it can be mounted with ceramic disc dimensions 398 mm front and 380 mm rear.
There will be two versions equipped with the supercharged 3.0 liter V6 engine producing 340 hp for the “simple” version and 380 hp for the S version . The basic version will accelerate from 0-100 km in 5.1 sec with a top speed of 258 km/h , with the S version to do the 0-100 km/h in 4.8 sec and having a top speed of 273 km/h . Both cars will feature the Dynamic Mode system, the S Coupe will have launch control, active exhaust, adjustable suspension and larger brakes .
Both V6 versions in America will cost $ 4000 less than the convertible version and start at $ 65,000 and $ 77,000 respectively, the F-Type R Coupe starts at $ 99,000 , and it will go on sale from mid 2014.
