The Porsche Macan grabbed the spotlight in the autoshow of Los Angeles. After nearly a year since we learned it’s name and after heaps of leaks , spy photos and teasers the compact crossover of the German company, made its world premiere in America.The high performance crossover with off-road capabilities will initially be available in two versions , the Macan S and Macan Turbo. TheMacan S will be equipped with a 3.0 – liter V6 engine producing 340 hp with 460 Nm of torque, with the 0-100 km/h coming in 5.4 seconds (5.2 sec , with Sport Chrono), having a top speed of 254 km/h . It’s average fuel of consumption is 8.7 to 9.0 l/100 km , while it emits 204-212 g/km of CO2.
Correspondingly , the Macan S Diesel is equipped with a 3.0 – liter V6diesel engine producing 258 hp with 580 Nm of torque, with the 0-100 km/h coming in 6.2 seconds (6.1 sec , with Sport Chrono) and the top speed could rise up to 226 km/h . It’s average fuel of consumption is 6.1 to 6.3 l/100 km , while it emits 159-164 g / km of CO2.
The PDK dual-clutch gearbox will be standard on both versions while both will be wearing six-piston brakes with 350 mm front discs and 330 mm rear with 18-inch wheels and tires 235/60 front and 255/55 rear .
Finally the Macan Turbo will be equipped with a twin-turbo V6 3,6- liter producing 400 hp with 550 Nm of torque, with the
0-100 km/h coming in 4.8 seconds ( 4.6 sec , with Sport Chrono), with a top speed of 269 km/h. The Macan Turbo will feature six-piston calipers but with 360 mm diameter at the front discs and 356 mm for the rear ones. The wheels will be 19 inches with tires measuring 235/55 for the front axle and 255/50 for the rear , while it’s average fuel of consumption is 9.2 to 8.9 l/100 km , while it emits 216-208 g/km of CO2 .
The Porsche Macan S Diesel weighs 1,898 kilos, has a length of 4.675 mm, width of 1.923 mm, height of 1.628 mm and a wheelbase of 2,807 mm. It is longer by 70 mm, wider by 24 mm and shorter by 70 mm in comparison to the Audi Q5, that uses the same platform. It features a PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) and all-wheel drive of Porsche with the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system. The rear axle is connected to the front via a multi-plate clutch , Porsche indicates that the 100 % of torque can betransfered to the front wheels when needed. Also , optional air suspension gives the possibility to increase the ride height by 4millimiters , to a total maximum of 230 mm . The front suspension consists of double wishbones and the rear has a multi-link arrangement .
The rear lights are completely LED and are similar in design to those of the Porsche 918 Spyder, having a 3D design.At the interior there is a fusion between the interiors of the Cayenne and the Panamera, but with a brand new three spoke wheel. The tachometer is centrally located on the dashboard , with the paddles on the wheel completing the sporty interior . The interior of the Macan S is lined withalcantara and Piano Black details, while the interior of the MacanTurbo is leather , having details of ” brushed ” aluminum.
In Germany it will be available from April 5, 2014 and the Macan S and Macan S Diesel will cost from € 57.930, with the most expensive being the Macan Turbo starting from € 79.826.
