British media reported that a representative of BMW, during the presentation of the M235i confirmed that the M2 Coupe will go to production. It is essentially the production version of the M235i Racing, with a six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo 3.0- liter engine producing close to 380 hp, placing the M2 between the M4 and the M235i.
The car will be the replacement of the 1-Series M Coupe and it is expected in the market in 2016. Rumors say that it will have an aggressive bodykit design which adopts the usual M characteristics, consisting of sports bumpers, inflated wings and quad tailpipes. Probably it will also have carbon or CFRP parts.
It will be equipped with the M active differential of the M3/M4 but not with the M active suspension, in an attempt by BMW to keep the price reasonable .
