Audi A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback

Audi presented the A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback, that will make their official debut at the Paris auto show at the end of the month. The second generation of the five-door coupe has a larger wheelbase, the new characteristic mask of Audi, as well as the same design details as the A5 Coupe. Its length is 4.73 meters, its width 1.84 meters and its height reaches 1.39 meters, with the luggage space being 480 liters.

Its interior is similar to that of the A4, offering 17 mm more space on the shoulders of the front passengers and 11 mm for the rear, with the rear leg room space, being increased by 24 mm. Audi has equipped the A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback, with a digital Virtual Cockpit instrument panel with a display of 12.3 inches, while the MMI infotainment system has a touch screen of 8.3 inches.

The cars are based on the MLB Evo platform, with their weight being reduced by at least 85 kilos, weighing 1,470 kg. Initially the A5 Sportback will be available with two TFSI and three TDI engines that will yield between 190 and 286 hp. The S5 Sportback will be equipped with a 3-liter V6 TFSI engine producing 354 hp and it will be able to do the 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, having a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h.

There are three available transmissions, a six-speed manual, a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch, and an eight-speed Tiptronic. Audi will also release the A5 Sportback g-tron equipped with a 2-liter TFSI engine that delivers 170 hp, which can consume either gasoline or natural gas or the Audi e-gas. The car will be able to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and it will emit 100 g/km of CO2.

The 2-liter TFSI delivers 252 horses and allows the car to do the 0-100 km/h in six seconds, the 2-liter TDI produces 190 hp, and enables the car to do the 0-100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, while the 3-liter TDI delivers 218 hp with a torque of 400 Nm. The four-wheel drive system will be available as optional equipment.

Sales of the new Audi A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback will start in Germany and in Europe from the beginning of 2017, with the Audi A5 Sportback having a starting price of €37,800 and the S5 Sportback a price of €62,500.
