The second generation of the 5008 is built on the modular EMP2 platform of PSA and it is longer by 16.5 cm, while it is wider by 11 cm, providing the required space for the passengers.
The two rear rows of seats can be folded and can create a huge trunk that can reach 640 liters in the five-seat configuration and 1,060 liters when you fold all the seats in the car. The interior features the i-Cockpit touchscreen that is available either as an 8-inch or 12.3-inch, a three spoke steering wheel, metal decorations and a leather upholstery.
Mechanically the range of petrol engines comprises a 1.2-liter producing 130 hp combined with either 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox and a 1.6-liter delivering 165 hp combined exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engines are a 1.6-liter that produces 100 and 120 hp, with the first to be combined with a 5-speed gearbox and the second either with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, while finally a 2-liter diesel is also available, delivering 150 and 180 hp.
The powe is transferred to the front axle, with the car being equipped with the Advanced Grip Control system that has five modes (Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand and ESP Off).
The standard equipment features a variety of security systems such as the Distance Alert frontal collision warning system with an automatic braking system, a lane change warning system, automatic high beam lights and a blind-spot warning system.
The car will be offered in five trim levels (Access, Active, Allure, GT and GT Line) and its sales will start in Europe in the spring of 2017.
