BMW launched today the 1-Series Sedan in China. The smallest model of the BMW sedans, that is based on the front-wheel drive UKL platform will be the main competitor of the Mercedes CLA Sedan and the Audi A3 Sedan.
The model has a length of 4,456 mm, a width of 1,803 mm and a height of 1,446. It will be available in three versions: 118i, 120i and 125i.
The first one will be equipped with a three-cylinder 1.5-liter engine producing 135 hp with 220 Nm of torque, combined with 6-speed manual transmission, that enables it to do the 0-100 km/h in 9.4 seconds, with its top speed being 212 km/h and its consumption reaching 5.5 liters/100 km.
The 120i will be equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 192 hp with 280 Nm of torque, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission that helps it to complete the 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, with its top speed reaching 235 km/h and its consumption being 6.2 liters/100 km.
Finally the 125i will be powered by a 2.0-liter engine delivering 231 hp with 350 Nm of torque, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission, that allows it to make the 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, having a top speed of 250 km/h. This version will have an average fuel consumption of 6.4 liters/100 km.
The car’s interior is almost identical to that of the X1 and the 2-Series Active Tourer. It features a big 8.8-inch screen in the center of the dashboard, a head-up display, a leather upholstery, dual zone air conditioning and a multifunctional steering wheel.
In terms of security systems, BMW equips the model with several systems such as Lane Departure Warning, Pedestrian Collision Warning and Emergency Assistance.
The production of the car will take place at the company’s factory in China. The BMW 1-Series Sedan will have a starting price of 204,800 yuan.
