Plymouth manufactured 1,920 Superbirds to be able to participate in NASCAR with the car, although rumors say that the number is higher. The cars were Road Runner coupes that had a huge rear spoiler and a long muzzle that adds about 50 cm to the overall length of the car.

The Superbird was available with a 7.2 liter engine producing 375 hp, a Six Pack 7.2 liter producing 390 hp and a 7-liter Hemi engine producing 425 hp. Buyers were required to pay about 25% more of the value of a Runner Road for a Superbird, but through the years the car became a highly collectible piece of American history.
